Résumé Ils ont été initiateurs de la musique Jamaïcaine dans le monde. Parmi les membres les plus reconnus du groupe, Don Drummond, Tommy McCook, Jackie Mittoo, Johnny Moore, Lloyd Knibbs et d'autres ont définitivement étaient des artistes représentatifs de l'indépendance de leur pays. Durant leur formation de 1963 à 1965, The Skatalites a enregistré plus de 100 chansons originales qui font partie des sorties les plus prestigieuses du label Soul Jazz. Ils apportent au jazz classique des touches exotiques, latines, rhythm'n'blues et pro-rastafari, ce qui permet leur permet de communiquer une énergie et une intensité peu commune.
