Résumé 'Phoenix' est le nouvel album - très attendu - et inattendu dans l'évolution musicale de la saxophoniste alto et compositrice Lakecia Benjamin, et le premier pour Whirlwind Recordings.L'album a été produit par Terri Lyne Carrington, lauréat de plusieurs prix Grammy, et met en lumière une liste « d'invités » très impressionnante : Dianne Reeves, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Patrice Rushen, Sonia Sanchez, Angela Davis et Wayne Shorter.Le groupe est comosé du trompettiste Josh Evans, de Victor Gould aux claviers, d'Orange Rodriguez aux synthés, du batteur Enoch (EJ) Strickland, du percussionniste Nêgah Santos et du bassiste Ivan Taylor.Le trompettiste Wallace Roney Jr., artite fétiche d'High Note, l'organiste de Rhodes Anastassiya Petrova et le bassiste Jahmal Nichols se joignent au line up.
